Mission
The National Hook-Up of Black Women (NHBW) is a national organization NHBW is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization established in 1974. The organization was founded by Dr. Arnita Young Boswell. We are well known for our advocacy work, supporting the cause of women and families across the US through the arts, cultural and family preservation, education, health, human services, and celebration of the achievements of women and their significant contributions to society.
To assure this is accomplished efficiently and effectively, NHBW has local chapters whose job it is to determine the needs of their community and then find ways to address them working in concert with other community agencies and organizations. The ultimate goal here is not to rescue people but to empower them. So, instead of doing things for them, we look for and support solutions that encourage building their capacity and unleashing their potential.
Membership
Membership is open to all who support the mission and goals of the organization and pay the required annual membership dues and actively participant in planned initiatives.
